OLD FRIENDS, GOOD TALENT //DTLA, CA\\

It all started back in 2012. Nicole Leever (@nicoleleever) saw talent in me that I had not yet discovered. She was shooting a campaign pitch for a local company and asked me to be involved. I really had no idea what I was doing in front of the camera, but her direction and trust helped create some rad images.

4 years later, here we are. Fully styled, less direction, more collaboration, same trust and the conversation is even better. It was an amazing time shooting with Nicole for the first time in a while. Nicole books 40 weddings a year, but loves shooting fashion as well. She has an incredible eye for lighting and what it does to a models look - she was constantly giving me tips from the photographers perspective as to how the light is hitting all parts of my face. The beauty of collaboration is that not only was she able to give me some tips, I was helping her with new direction tips for achieving a certain look on the model as well.

Not only did we create these incredible images, but it was a great time catching up on life with Nicole and dreaming with her for her future. We kept looking at each other, saying, "Remember when we first worked together. My how far we have come." Thanks Nicole, for a fun time. Cheers to many more collabs in the future.

THE CONVERSATION //LOS ANGELES, CA\\

It started with another direct message. Honestly, it takes a lot of guts to reach out to someone with a DM on Instagram, but Christina Jengel (@christinajengel) went for it. She DM'd me not too long ago to set up a time to shoot with me in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. I had never been there, so it was a fun adventure to get out and just GO!

After meeting up with Christina, we just walked around the streets by the Arts District Co-op, and saw many murals, rad walls and cool nooks and crannies of the streets. While we walked around she asked me a little more about my story that she didn't already know from my blog post (Cory's Story) and I got to know her as well. The conversation ended up being about her adventure to Los Angeles while attending a small Christian college in Chicago. She interns for the Dream Center and has a huge heart for freedom those victimized by human sex trafficking. Hearing about the passions of her heart made our time together fun and encouraging. It was incredibly rad to share stories of adventure and new beginnings. Not to mention, as you can see here, her eye for portrait photography is definitely something special!

The conversation behind these images was so encouraging.

BUENOS AIRES E-MAIL :: A NEW FRIEND

When I posted "CORY'S STORY", I finished the post with a note for readers to comment on the post or e-mail me to start a conversation of advice, questions or reactions. When you are blogging, sometimes it feels like you are writing into thin air and no one is actually reading your posts, but a moment last week has encouraged me to press on.

I received an e-mail from a reader. Check this out!

Hi! Im Elizabeth from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I just read your last blog post and i just wanted to say thank you!
This month i started working professionally as a photographer and your post was such an encouragement. I've been working as a translator for a Bible College for the past 3 years but God had been speaking to me about getting serious with photography for so long, but it never really worked out for some reason or another, until now.

[Elizabeth went on to ask me a question about my experience in the industry, and I have since replied with some advice for her]

Thank you for your time and you have no idea how much your story can impact others!

WOW! I really was speechless after reading this e-mail. People really are reading my posts. People really do care about what is going on in my story. Not only do they care, they see me as inspiring and as a source of encouragement. As I e-mailed Elizabeth a few times, we were even able to find out that she has seen information for the church campus that has been planted in Buenos Aires that was started by the church that I currently attend in Orange County. She wants to go check it out sometime!

I hope this is not the end of hearing from readers, fans, friends and family about my journey. All of your words mean so much to me in this story.
